BSG WSH Webinar reinforces WSH 2028 strategies as it commemorates its 35th Anniversary
The Bedok Safety Group (BSG), with the support of the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council, organised a two half-day WSH webinar on 6 and 7 October 2020. The webinar focused on the three key pillars of the WSH 2028 strategy: strengthening WSH Ownership, enhancing focus on Workplace Health, and promoting Technology-enabled WSH.
Formed in 1985, BSG is a voluntary group comprising safety professionals from various companies working together with the common goal to promote workplace safety and health. This webinar is significant to the BSG, as it also commemorates its 35th anniversary.
In his opening address, Mr John Ng, Chairman of the WSH Council, congratulated BSG for 35 years of continuous support in promoting WSH, and being an active advocate for implementing Safe Management Measures at the workplace. He also urged participants to continue to remain vigilant in ensuring WSH remains a top priority at the workplace.
At the start of the webinar, Mr Vincent Lim, Chairman of BSG, shared BSG’s approach to overcome the current COVID-19 pandemic, which is through sharing of best practices, while stressing that we need to be versatile to get the best chance at survival.
Key topics at the webinar were focused on the three key pillars of the WSH 2028 strategy:
• On strengthening WSH Ownership, the Ministry of Manpower shared examples
of fatal accidents over the years. These are useful pointers for participants to
learn from and these help them to take greater ownership of their own company’s
safety policy and practices.
• On Workplace Health, Changi General Hospital shared a presentation on how one
can remain resilient in the face of a pandemic.
• Companies such as 3M Asia Pacific, the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing
Technology, and Yokogawa Engineering Pte Ltd, shared various ideas on how
technology can be incorporated into daily operations to further improve
The webinar was well attended by more than 500 participants each day, who also engaged in the lively Q&A sessions. Participants also had fun participating in the National WSH Campaign persona quiz alongside Mr Vincent Lim, who did his persona quiz live.
